They Grow Up So Fast!
May 25, 2024
We’re in the Transitional Stage
We love this transitional stage where the pups are fearlessly discovering the world! Today they discovered food! I think some of them were saying, “Wow! What have we been missing?!!”
Puppies are vocalizing with chirps, growls, yips, and even an occasional “Ahwoooo.” They’re very engaging and the Aussiedoodles (mix of Australian Shepherd and Poodle) seem to make eye contact and respond to human voices earlier than the Goldendoodles or Golden Retrievers. They are very smart, easy to train, and love their people.
Socializing and Desensitizing Begins Early
Our grandchildren are interacting daily with the pups to begin the gentle socialization process. With the introduction of solid food comes new messes. The puppies have already begun using their potty trays that are placed in the pen. Their natural instinct to avoid soiling the area where they eat and sleep makes using the potty trays an easier transition to eventually going potty outside. Novelty items have been added to their pen for them to explore. Soon, new sounds will be introduced with increasing intensity.
Careful Observation of Any Fear Response
Right now, they do not seem to fear anything, however, there will be stages in their development when fear can potentially manifest in their reactions. We carefully, intentionally, and gently help them to overcome their fears with coaching and encouragement. Building a healthy well-balanced puppy takes time and patience!
These are mini Aussiedoodle puppies and as of 5/25/24 there are still two male puppies available from this very colorful litter. Now that eyes are open, they’re eating solid food, and building independence, their personalities are beginning to express themselves in new ways each day.
