What will you name your puppy from Doodle Patch Farm

So many great ideas on naming this litter! Thank you!
I decided to combine a couple ideas that were suggested on our Facebook page and also suggestions from teachers at school. I loved the male Harry Potter names and the flower names! So. . . this litter’s theme: “April Showers Bring May’s Magic!” We have three blossoming girls: Iris, Marigold, and Poppy. Four magical boys: Dudley, Griffon, Percy, and Hugo. Families most often change the names of their puppies. A puppy’s name is personal and a family decision. However, until they meet their new families, we like to give them names other than the color of the collar they’re wearing.
Names are important.
Names help us to be more aware of budding personalities, traits, and peculiarities in each puppy. So we name them. They carry that name for a while, but their families will give them their forever names; the names they pay attention to, the names that make them jump in a lap, or come running. We love to know the names a family has decided upon, and we keep a record of the pups’ new names that have a family connection. Let us know your pup’s new name even before you take your puppy home! We will use it again and again when we work with that puppy.
If you can’t decide, no worries. They’ll recognize a new name whenever you decide. In the meantime, we will have a cute creative name to call them.
We will need more help with naming themes for our next two litters
With two additional litters expected in just two weeks: Mini Goldendoodles and Standard Aussiedoodles, I will need suggestions for themes for naming. I love your input on our Facebook page!!! It’s like naming nail polishes and lipsticks! Get creative! The first four above are males: Dudley, Percy, Hugo, and Griffon. The group of three above are females: Iris, Poppy, and Marigold.
As a fifth grade teacher, things are going to get interesting. . .
Two more litters are arriving at the end of May 2024. In fact, we expect BOTH litters to arrive between May 21st through May 25th. And to add to the excitement, my last day of school is May 22nd. Thankfully, both our daughter and our son, along with my husband, who have been “in the trenches” whelping puppies, are available to help. The last day of school is so precious- especially with fifth graders who are making the transition to Middle School. It will be stressful for sure if both Luna and Ivy decide that they will have puppies that day. Of course I wish they would consult my calendar before they give birth, but obviously, nature prevails.
I want to be present in every way with my students, so I may need to turn off my phone and simply let the other experienced “doulas” handle the whelping. That will be hard for me. But it may be good for me. Luna is an experienced mom and makes the birth process look easy – even when her previous litter was ten puppies. This is Ivy’s first litter so she will need some support. I’m practicing deep breathing and stress management as I navigate this last week of school, and three litters of puppies. I’m remembering to trust in Luna and Ivy, and all of these amazing dogs that have taught me to live in the moment and for the moment, and to embrace what is. It will be stressful, but full of pride as I say goodbye to my bright, full-of-promise fifth graders, and joy as I say hello to new colorful, full-of-promise puppies.
Alfie and Ivy – Both are F1b mini Goldendoodles. The mature weight of these puppies will likely be 20-25 pounds. This litter will be considered “multi-generational” Goldendoodles since both parents are second generation doodles. They have been genetically tested and carry the “non-shedding” gene trait. For allergy sufferers, apartment dwellers. . . a puppy from this litter could be your new best friend! Visit our website: doodlepatchfarm.com if you’d like to get on the pick list. There are picks still available as of May 10.
Jett and Luna – Standard F1 (first generation) Aussiedoodles. The mature weight will be 60- 75 pounds. Both dogs are fully health tested, CHIC (Canine Health Information Center) certified. OFA certifications are a given if a dog is to be CHIC certified. This is Luna’s third litter. This pairing has produced beautiful, intelligent, easy-to-train puppies. The pick list has started. There are spots available as of May 10. Visit our website to see previous litters from these two: doodlepatchfarm.com. We’d love to hear from you!
