Puppy Pick Day: The Magic of Meeting Your Forever Friend

There’s something truly special about Puppy Pick Day—that magical moment when families finally meet the fluffy bundles they’ve been dreaming about for weeks. Tails wag, hearts melt, and the air is full of laughter (and maybe a few happy tears).

At around 5-6 weeks old, our puppies are ready to meet their future families for the very first time. They’re curious, playful, and just starting to show their personalities. Some are bold explorers. Others are sweet cuddlers. And all of them are impossible not to love.

How the Pick List Works

We get asked this a lot!
Our Pick List is simple: the earlier your deposit comes in, the higher your spot for puppy selection from a particular litter of puppies. It’s a fair and fun way to make sure every family gets a chance to find their perfect match. When your turn comes, you’ll spend time getting to know each puppy—watching them play, cuddling them, and letting your heart decide.

Sara and her family made the trip from Indianapolis for their much-anticipated Puppy Pick Day. They were third on the pick list, and since two puppies had already been selected, the excitement was in full swing — six adorable puppies were still waiting to find their forever homes. Which one would steal their hearts?

The visit was filled with laughter, cuddles, and plenty of “puppy talk.”
“This one’s a little bigger.”
“This one’s more laid back.”
“Oh, this one has so much energy!”

There were questions for Patty and Peter about coat colors, fur textures, and personalities — plus the all-too-familiar debate of ‘How can we choose just one?’ Everyone took turns holding a puppy (or two!) before the final decision was made.

After much thoughtful deliberation, the perfect match was found and proudly noted on our website. Now, the countdown begins — in just a few short weeks, Sara’s family will return to take home their newest furry family member.

Once you’ve made your choice, we’ll hold your puppy until they’re 8 weeks old and ready to go home. We also offer training after 8 weeks for families who would like the easiest transition to their home.  In the meantime, we’ll keep sharing photos, updates, and milestones so you can follow along as your little one grows!

What to Expect on Puppy Pick Day

Be ready for smiles, puppy kisses, and maybe a bit of indecision (because honestly, how can you choose just one?). We’ll help guide you through the process, sharing what we’ve learned about each puppy’s temperament and quirks.

If you’re too far away to visit in person, don’t worry — we offer FaceTime appointments so you can still meet the remaining puppies “virtually” and make your selection with confidence. We can tell you about how they behave now (it can change).  Temperament testing our puppies helps us match puppies to families and also provides families with information regarding the strengths and potential challenges families may encounter as their puppy grows.  You’ll be able to see each puppy’s personality shine, ask questions in real time, and enjoy the excitement of Pick Day no matter where you are.

Families often bring their kids to join the fun—there’s nothing quite like watching a child’s eyes light up when they meet “their” puppy for the first time. Whether it happens in our living room or through a FaceTime call, it’s always a moment we’ll never forget.
