River and Jett Scored a Touchdown!

We are four days past whelping. Nine puppies are here, and they are perfect!  River enjoys her daily pampering which includes frequent baths (birthing is messy), extra meals of cooked chicken and fresh vegetables, exercise breaks, and around the clock affection.  The puppies have gained 10% of their birth weight each day. In about a week they will open their eyes and start playing with their litter mates.

All is well, so it’s time to choose a theme for this litter!

Today is the Super Bowl and the Chiefs and Eagles are playing.  We are not a football family, and I’m embarrassed to admit I have never watched an entire football game, but we do enjoy the Super Bowl halftime shows and the commercials.  I love a Super Bowl Party with warm pretzels, nachos, sliders, pizza, spinach artichoke dip, and beer.  Even for those of us who can’t sit through the game, halftime with all the fixings among friends is always a good time.

The Doodle Patch Farm Puppy Bowl is here!

This litter will be aptly named “The Doodle Patch Farm Puppy Bowl!”  We name the puppies so that we can begin bonding with them but fully expect the names will be changed by the families who adopt them. With input from friends and Google, we chose football themed names.

Puppies eyes are still closed, so they cannot watch the “Big Game” this year, but they will be ready to cuddle up in about 7 and 1/2 weeks from now.
