Three Very Special Puppies Are Coming to Doodle Patch Farm — And They Need Three Very Special Families!

There is always something exciting happening at Doodle Patch Farm, but this time we have three very special new arrivals to tell you about!

We recently purchased three beautiful puppies that we hope will someday become an important part of the future of our breeding program:

One beautiful female Bernese Mountain Dog puppy
Two beautiful, very colorfulStand Poodles: one male, one female puppies

We searched carefully for puppies with the genetics, pedigrees, structure and qualities we want to bring into future generations at Doodle Patch Farm. Now, as we prepare to welcome these three youngsters, we are looking for something equally important:

Three Wonderful Guardian Homes

At Doodle Patch Farm, we believe our breeding dogs deserve something more than simply being part of a breeding program.

They deserve families of their own.

A Guardian Home gives one of our breeding dogs the opportunity to grow up in a loving home, sleep in the house, play in the backyard, go for walks, curl up with the family and simply enjoy being someone’s beloved dog.

The dog remains part of the Doodle Patch Farm breeding program for a period of time, but you become his or her everyday family.

For the right family, it can be a wonderful arrangement.

What Is a Guardian Home?

Our Guardian Home Program allows an experienced dog-loving family to welcome a carefully selected, breeding-quality Doodle Patch Farm dog into their home without the initial purchase cost of the dog.

You raise the puppy as a member of your family and provide all of the love, training and everyday care that comes with having a dog.

Doodle Patch Farm retains breeding rights and is responsible for the expenses specifically associated with our breeding program, including genetic testing, orthopedic evaluations, progesterone testing and other breeding-related expenses.

When the dog’s breeding career is completed, Doodle Patch Farm pays for the dog to be spayed or neutered, and full ownership is transferred to the Guardian Family.

For females, retirement typically occurs around 4–5 years of age. Males may remain in the breeding program until approximately 7 years of age.

Then the dog who has already been part of your family simply continues being exactly that — your dog.

Could You Be One of the Families We’re Looking For?

Being a Guardian is rewarding, but it is also a commitment. Because these dogs are an important part of our breeding program, we need Guardian Families who are willing to work closely with us and follow some important guidelines.

Our Guardian Families should:

• Have previous experience owning a dog.
• Live within approximately 1–2 hours of Germantown, Ohio.
• Preferably have a securely fenced yard. We strongly prefer fenced yards, although exceptions may occasionally be considered.
• Keep the dog as an indoor family dog.
• Provide normal routine veterinary care, including vaccinations, worming, wellness examinations, flea and heartworm prevention, and other appropriate preventive care.
• Feed a high-quality diet and appropriate supplements.
• Provide regular professional grooming and/or proper brushing and coat maintenance.
• Maintain and provide Doodle Patch Farm with documentation of the dog’s routine veterinary care.
• Properly socialize and exercise the dog while keeping him or her safe.
• Complete appropriate obedience training so the dog grows into a well-mannered adult.
• Have the puppy potty trained and crate trained by approximately six months of age.
• Avoid dog parks and doggy daycare for an intact Guardian dog. Because our Guardian dogs are not spayed or neutered while they are part of our breeding program, these environments can create unnecessary risks.
• Be available to transport the dog to and from Doodle Patch Farm for breeding, sometimes with approximately 24–36 hours’ notice.
• For a female Guardian dog, return her to Doodle Patch Farm approximately one week before she is expected to deliver her puppies. She will remain with us while she delivers and raises her litter and may stay with us until the puppies are approximately eight weeks old.
• Communicate regularly with Doodle Patch Farm about the dog’s development, training, health and progress.
• Send occasional pictures, texts and updates. We love seeing our Guardian dogs becoming treasured members of their families!
• Contact us immediately if a serious health concern develops.
• Have no plans to move outside our Guardian Home area during approximately the next 4–5 years.

Most importantly, we are looking for people who want one of these dogs because they truly want another family member.

What Does Doodle Patch Farm Provide?

This is a partnership, and we have responsibilities to our Guardian Families as well.

Doodle Patch Farm will:

• Provide a carefully selected, high-quality puppy or dog with no initial purchase cost.
• Pay expenses associated with breeding, including genetic testing, orthopedic evaluations and progesterone testing.
• Help educate our Guardian Families about breeding-related matters, including recognizing a female’s heat cycle and understanding the special care needed during pregnancy.
• Pay for the dog’s spay or neuter when his or her breeding career is complete.
• Transfer full ownership to the Guardian Family following retirement from our breeding program.
• Provide support throughout the dog’s lifetime.
• Be willing to take the dog back at any time should circumstances make that necessary.

You aren’t simply taking home one of our dogs. You are becoming part of the Doodle Patch Farm family.

Our newest additions have arrived, and we would love to have their Guardian Families ready for a puppy and ready  to welcome them home.

We have:

“Stella” – Female Bernese Mountain Dog Puppy

Bernese Mountain Dog Female — The Party with Fur!
This sweet girl is truly a party with fur!  She absolutely loves people, playtime, and snuggling up like a giant Teddy Bear. At just 9 weeks old, she is already about 18 pounds and is AKC registered. Both of her parents were around 100 pounds, so this girl is destined to grow into a big, beautiful Berner!

“Hamilton” –  Phantom Sable Tri-color Male Standard Poodle Puppy

Phantom Sable Tri-Color Male Standard Poodle — The Handsome Clown
This boy is simply stunning!  He’s playful, silly, and just a little bit of a clown—but he also knows how to strike a pose when the moment calls for it! He loves kisses, cuddles, and being part of the action. At 12 weeks, he is about 20 pounds and is expected to mature to around 65 pounds. His gorgeous phantom sable tri-color coloring makes him truly one-of-a-kind.

“Opal” –  Female Merle Standard Poodle

Merle Female Standard Poodle — Sweet & Striking
This beautiful girl has an unforgettable merle pattern and a personality to match. She is very affectionate, somewhat reserved, and wonderfully devoted to her people, often following her favorite humans wherever they go. At 12 weeks, she weighs about 16 pounds and is expected to mature to approximately 45–50 pounds. She has that lovely combination of elegance, sweetness, and loyalty that makes Standard Poodles so special.

These puppies were selected with the future of our breeding program in mind, so becoming their Guardian is a special opportunity — but also an important responsibility.

If you live in Southwest Ohio within approximately one to two hours from Germantown, Ohio, have experience raising dogs and think one of these puppies might belong in your family, we would love to talk with you.

Families from the greater Dayton, Cincinnati, Middletown, Springboro, Centerville, Miamisburg, Lebanon, West Chester, Hamilton, Beavercreek and surrounding Southwest Ohio areas may be within the appropriate driving distance.
