The “Can’t Have Just One” Litter & A Nod to Summer & Shakespeare

Our beautiful blue-eyed, blue merle Australian Shepherd, Luna, and Jett (AKA Paparazzi’s Super Sonic), our phantom black and white Standard Poodle, had a litter of puppies on Memorial Day Weekend this past May. This is the second litter for this pairing; their first litter was on July 5, 2023. Once again, the litter is composed of red merles, blue merles, phantoms, and tricolors. These puppies are consistently colorful, with eyes that vary from brown, hazel, green, and blue. In addition to their vibrant beauty, Jett and Luna always produce puppies that are easy to train, eager to please, friendly, and gregarious.

Sibling Pups

When we announced last March that Jett and Luna were expecting, the puppy-pick list filled up quickly. Thanks to pictures of previous litters, our new customers can accurately gauge if the puppies they see on our site are the type of puppies they’re looking for. Some people make the decision to buy a puppy from us based on these previous litter pictures. Some read the reviews on our website and they choose us as their breeder. Many people choose us because of the extensive health testing performed on our breeding dogs and the documentation we provide. Others decide to choose one of our puppies due to the thorough handling, socialization, and potty training we do with all of our pups.

A New Reason For Investing In A Puppy from Doodle Patch Farm

This summer, we were surprised by a new reason folks chose a Doodle Patch Farm Pup: they wanted a sibling from Jett and Luna that would have the same temperament, colorful coat, and size as their first Jett and Luna puppy. When people come back for a puppy from the same pairing as their current dog, we know we’ve made a good match. Four families this summer came back for their second Jett and Luna pup, and another family bought two at the same time. Five of the ten puppies have gone to homes with a full sibling. Jett and Luna’s Memorial Day litter is now being referred to as the “Can’t Have Just One!” litter.

Puppies With Purpose

We are often asked, “Isn’t it hard to let them go?” We put so much energy into our breeding program. Our breeding pairs are nurtured and loved as part of our family. Our pups are handled daily from birth. But we don’t consider the puppies “ours” to begin with. We know that each puppy is an opportunity to share our heart and energy with a new family. It is our hope that the love we’ve poured into each puppy will equip that puppy to love and adore another person, another family. And so the Doodle Patch mission goes on, one puppy at a time. Reveille is Waiting

As of today, one of Jett and Luna’s puppies is still with us. At just nine weeks old, she sleeps in a crate at night, is almost fully potty trained, walks on a leash, sits when asked, has taken many trips in the car, and adores people. A blue merle with hazel eyes, Reveille is a beauty. She’s waiting for her human. Until she finds her new home, we will continue to work with her because she’s such a joy to have around. We know there is a special person who will appreciate her intelligence and beauty.

Summer and Shakespeare

We have a new pairing for Standard Aussiedoodles! We are thrilled with this first litter from our Australian Shepherd, River, and Standard Poodle, Jett. These gorgeous colorful pups were born on July 10. With a nod to summer and Shakespeare, we are calling these puppies: River and Jett’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” litter. And they are truly ‘such stuff as dreams are made of!’ Needing names resembling the Bard of Avon’s famous comedy, our cast of characters include:

• Puck (Red Merle Male)
• Quince (Blue Merle Male)
• Peablossom (Blue Merle Female)
• Snug (Brown and White Female)
• Lyssy (Phantom Black and White Female)
• Lena (Black and White Female)
• Mia (Phantom Black and White Female)

River and Jett’s pups will likely be 40-45 pounds. We anticipate temperaments like their parents. River is energetic, eager to please, and adores her family. Jett is a happy, goofy, but proud and elegant Standard Poodle. We will have photos up for these beautiful puppies who have just opened their eyes. PUPPIES

The puppies are handled daily beginning with Early Neurological Stimulation and Early Scent Introduction. As they mature, they will begin potty training as solid foods are introduced. When developmentally appropriate, pups will be introduced to novel sights and sounds. Then we progress to socialization with various people and other pets. We ask all of our puppy families to keep us informed as their puppy grows. This not only allows us to help families with tips, advice, and resources, but it also informs our breeding practice. And of course next year, the testament to an outstanding breeding pair: Will there be families that want a sibling from River and Jett? Will we have another “Can’t Have Just One” Litter?

One of my favorite Shakespearean quotes from Henry VIII, “Good company, good wine, good welcome can make good people.” I think this troubadour today would add “good dogs” to the list.
