January 5th: A Memorable Bernedoodle Birth Story at Doodle Patch Farm
January 5th was truly one for the books at our house—and one we’ll never forget.
After giving us all a bit of a scare, May, our beloved mama Bernese Mountain Dog, decided motherhood should begin with a little drama. She bravely went through an emergency C-section and handled it like the strong, steady girl she is, bringing six beautiful Standard Bernedoodle puppies into the world. While one precious pup (the 7ths puppy) didn’t make it, that tiny soul is forever loved, honored, and remembered.
The rest of the crew? These Bernedoodles are thriving; absolutely thriving.
We welcomed 6 traditional tri-color Bernedoodle puppies, each with perfect collars and rich tan points, plus one striking merle Bernedoodle who clearly missed the memo about blending in. They are fat, happy, and living their very best newborn lives—mostly eating, sleeping, and forming one large, wiggly puppy pile between meals.
These early days are filled with warmth, quiet moments, and the simple magic that comes with welcoming a new litter of puppies.
An Incredible Bernedoodle Mama
May has been nothing short of amazing. Despite everything she’s been through, she is a doting, attentive Bernedoodle mama, completely in love with her babies and still making time to soak up affection from her human family. If there were medals for motherhood, she’d absolutely earn one—though she’d probably nap through the ceremony.
Watching her nurture and care for her puppies reminds us why we place such importance on ethical breeding, attentive care, and the well-being of our dogs at every stage of life.
Gratitude, Strength, and Tiny Miracles
This experience reminded us that even when things don’t go as planned, love, strength, and a little humor carry us through. We’re deeply grateful for these tiny miracles, for May’s incredible heart, and for the joy that continues to find its way in—even after hard moments.
