And we have five little boys that will steal your heart!

Our days are busy. Our hearts are full, and we are continuously entertained by this litter of 8.  They are beautiful blue-eyed, marbled merles and one striking chocolate and white.  Daily weighing, checking and bathing mom, washing puppy pads, and now puppy de-worming are routine.  I love every moment.

The grandkids help weigh the puppies and corral them for photos.  It is a family affair.  My grandson helped choose the props for photos of the remaining males.  He featured a few of his own toys in the photos since we were mainly photographing the boys.  Our granddaughter enjoys placing the pups on the scale and reading the weights.  We are still in the easy days.

Next week we will begin the process of weaning.  It’s a messy process and will only get messier as the puppies mature.  Right now Luna is a fastidious mama, but soon she won’t be able to keep up with the hungry teething pups, so we will be simultaneously cleaning and potty training the youngsters.  This is the calm before the storm!

The puppies’ personalities are emerging and just like children, they are all different.  Cosmo and Titan are pretty relaxed.  Comet and Georgia are very social and engage with faces immediately.  Hazel has a very strong sniff response.  Newton and Journey have intelligent expressions and will be vocal if they want your attention.  Aurora is a confident beauty.  She will venture out on her own without the pack following.  Eight different puppies with eight distinct personalities.

I hope that we will match each puppy with the perfect family.  That is always the goal.  As much as we love the process of breeding and raising litters, we love getting to know the families that adopt our pups.  A new puppy opens a new chapter in the life of a family.  New experiences, stories, aggravations, snuggles, loyalty and companionship are what our dogs bring to us.  As the new year unfolds, it is our wish that you and your canine companions enjoy your moments together and make lasting memories in this new chapter.  Happy New Year from Doodle Patch Farm!
